CEDARS Teams Up with Cabela's for Annual Fishing Outing

LINCOLN, Neb. (June 16, 2010)

- The weather was perfect for fishing when 19 children in CEDARS care spent a beautiful morning with Cabela's CLUB Visa employees at Bowling Lake in north Lincoln.

The kids had a great time enjoying the outdoors with their volunteer fishing buddies, just as they did in the previous two years Cabela's CLUB Visa hosted the event for children in CEDARS care. For most of the kids, it was their first time fishing -- something they quickly picked up on, catching and releasing their own fish in no time.

Dani Friesen, Cabela's CLUB Visa administrative assistant, helped plan the event and said the children especially enjoyed the one-on-one time with the volunteers who guided them through a new experience.

"One of the girls even said she couldn't wait to come back next year to be with the same volunteer, she enjoyed the interaction so much," Friesen said.

Cabela's CLUB Visa employees also joined the CEDARS children for lunch after fishing.

Each child received a bag of goodies, including fishing gear, a water bottle, a hat and a flashlight. The kids were also armed with disposable cameras, which they were excited to use to capture memories of fish and friends from their special day.

Friesen said Cabela's CLUB Visa employees love working with the CEDARS children as much as they love the outdoors and they're thankful for the opportunity to make this event possible.
