CEDARS YOUTH TREATED TO A SUMMERS END SOIRE

An unseasonably cool night provided a welcome backdrop for CEDARS’ summers end party on Monday night, July 28. Approximately 60 youth from CEDARS out of home programs, including foster care, emergency shelter, group home and transitional living, were treated to a luau-themed party that prompted smiles, laughter and even some dancing.

A local DJ from Miracle Entertainment kept the evening flowing with music while the youth took turns dunking CEDARS staff in the dunk tank, running through the inflatable obstacle course, playing tug-of-war and lining up for shaved ice treats all donated by Crete TruValue.

The youth were also delighted by the presence of 15 classic cars that were brought in courtesy of the “Tuesday Night Car Guys,” a group of gentleman who get together regularly to talk about cars and enjoy one another’s company. The youth had the opportunity to visit with the car owners, learn more about them and even take pictures.

The event was put on with the special help of volunteers from Ameritas.

CEDARS has been working to help kids in crisis and build strong families since 1947. The agency serves Southeast Nebraska through the provision of out-of-home residential programs, family support and prevention services, early childhood development, and juvenile justice programming to approximately 1,000 children and youth each day.
