Meet Carla, a Family Partner on our Prevention team!

Carla began her journey at CEDARS 11 years ago in the Family Support program, where she supervised visits between parents and their children who were in foster care. After five years in that role, Carla moved over to our Prevention team, serving young families in our Sixpence program.

In her current role, Carla helps teens who are pregnant or parenting, providing them extra support with parenting, understanding child development, and gaining knowledge of community resources. Carla uses research-based information and assessments to identify areas where there may be a delay, then provides learning through play to show parents how they can improve their child’s development while forming strong bonds.

“My favorite part of working at CEDARS is the connections I have with my clients,” Carla shared. “I love the one-on-one interactions. Both Family Service and Sixpence provide long-term service, so I often work with clients for several years at a time. I essentially become a familiar part of the family’s life when they see me in their home every week.”

Carla and her husband Bill, a retired inventory manager for Nebraska Public Power District, have two kids. Their son is a senior software developer in Miami, and their daughter works in the mental health field in Las Vegas. Carla and her husband enjoy traveling to visit their kids and grand-fur-babies, as well as bike riding and attending concerts and movies.

A fun fact about Carla: she performed at a fundraising event for a U.S. President!

Thank you, Carla, for all you do for the kids and families we serve!
